Mathew Friedlander
I am a Montana native and a member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai tribes. I am a 3rd-year Computer Engineering student at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo Montana. My interests are vast and include computer science, electrical engineering, automation, control systems, and space science. I enjoy learning and am driven by a desire to understand how things work. I was drawn to the IRIS Solar Spectrograph competition because it embodies a diverse set of cross-disciplinary challenges. When I'm not in the lab, I prefer to be with my family outdoors either hiking or paddling the obscure and pristine landscapes of Western Montana. Upon finishing my B.S., I intend to advance my education. Ultimately, I hope to embark on a career that allows me stay in the area and work to the benefit of my tribal community and in advocacy of STEM field research and education.
